A Little Bit About ICELAND’S MAIN GEOGRAPHIC REGIONS

---

**Northern Iceland** is a realm of stark contrasts and serene landscapes. Here, the rugged beauty of the volcanic terrain is softened by lush meadows and tranquil fjords. The Diamond Circle route reveals breathtaking sights like the powerful Dettifoss waterfall, Europe's most voluminous, and the otherworldly landscapes of the Myvatn region, where geothermal activity creates a surreal mosaic of bubbling mud pots, steaming vents, and vibrant sulfur deposits.

**Southern Highlands** offer a remote wilderness characterized by vast lava fields, colourful rhyolite mountains, and crystal-clear rivers. This area is perfect for those seeking solitude and adventure, with hiking trails that wind through untouched nature, revealing hidden hot springs and panoramic vistas that stretch to the horizon. The Highland routes, accessible in the summer months, showcase Iceland's raw, unfiltered beauty.

JORLARSSON’S LAGOON

**Jorlarsson's Lagoon**, a hidden gem in the southern region, captivates with its serene, icy waters dotted with floating icebergs. This glacial lagoon, surrounded by black sand beaches and towering ice formations, is a place of quiet reflection and awe-inspiring beauty. The ethereal blue hues of the ice contrast sharply with the stark volcanic backdrop, creating a scene that feels both timeless and otherworldly.

THE THORSMORK VALLEY

**The Thorsmork Valley**, the location of our Trekking, is nestled between glaciers and mountains, is a verdant oasis known for its stunning hiking trails and diverse flora. This valley, named after Thor, the Norse god of thunder, offers dramatic scenery with lush greenery, glacial rivers, and towering peaks. The famous Laugavegur Trail, a trekker's paradise renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and diverse terrains, invites adventurers to immerse themselves in one of the most beautiful hikes in the world, winding through the heart of Iceland's wilderness.

REYKJAVIK

**Reykjavik and its surroundings** blend natural wonders with cultural richness. The capital city, with its colourful buildings and vibrant arts scene, is set against a backdrop of majestic mountains and the vast Atlantic Ocean. Just outside the city, the Reykjanes Peninsula offers geothermal marvels like the Blue Lagoon and dramatic coastal cliffs, while the Golden Circle route introduces visitors to the iconic Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir geothermal area, and Thingvellir National Park, where the tectonic plates of North America and Eurasia meet.

**Southern Iceland** is a land of iconic waterfalls, black sand beaches, and vast glaciers. The picturesque Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls cascade down cliffs with mesmerizing power, while the Reynisfjara beach, with its basalt columns and roaring waves, offers a stark and beautiful seascape. The immense Vatnajokull glacier and its surrounding national park provide endless opportunities for exploration, from ice cave tours to glacier hikes, showcasing the dynamic and ever-changing nature of Iceland's landscape.
